online mediation

The solution for you: online mediation

Of course, nothing beats personal contact. However, in these times when seeking personal contact is discouraged, digital communication can be a possible solution for you.

In addition to the traditional form of mediation, where you sit at the table together with the other party and the mediator, there is also online mediation. In this case as well, the mediator guides you in finding a solution with the other party. The only difference is that the mediation takes place entirely or partially online in a secure environment.

Although it took some getting used to for us at first, we have noticed that online conversations generally work very well and pleasantly. Because you can still see each other, the personal contact is well maintained.

Advantages of online mediation

  • A conversation can be scheduled online at a time that is convenient for you in terms of work and/or children, so that we can talk to each other without interruption.
  • Because there is no travel time, an online mediation session can often be scheduled more easily ‘in between other commitments’ and, where necessary, also closer together than with “live” meetings.

Online mediation: what is the procedure?

  • Online mediation begins with an individual intake meeting between you and the mediator
  • After the individual intake meetings have taken place, the mediator will inform both parties about the progress. Depending on your situation, the mediator will agree with you on who will participate in the Plenary Mediation Session. It is important that the right parties engage in the conversation. The Plenary Mediation Session can take place either online or on location, according to the parties’ preference, and all RIVM guidelines will of course be observed.

  • Before the start of the Plenary Mediation Session, the parties will receive the MfN Mediation Agreement for review. The agreement will be explained by the mediator before the conversation begins, and there will be ample opportunity to ask any questions.
  • Finally, the parties make agreements together. These agreements are recorded in writing.
